Belgian Brilliance and Denim Dreams at Hyères 2024

Every October, the sleepy seaside town of Hyères transforms into the ultimate playground for fashion, photography, and accessories. For its 39th edition, the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories once again took over the modernist Villa Noailles from October 10-13, 2024.
Picture Mediterranean sun, experimental silhouettes, and late-night parties in abandoned swimming pools (yes, really) – four days buzzing with pure creativity energy. This year’s edition, under the eye of Nicolas Di Felice (Artistic Director of Courrèges), did what Hyères does best: spotlight the next generation of talent while reminding the industry that freedom, diversity, and sustainability aren’t buzzwords- they’re essentials.

Hyères Hall of Fame

The festival stage has launched countless careers, and 2024 was no exception. This year, the spotlight fell on two names that left an undeniable mark on the Villa Noailles runway.

From Israel, Dolev Elron claimed the Grand Prix du Jury Première Vision with a denim-driven collection full of round seams, soft edges, and sculptural energy. Denim might be the world’s most familiar fabric, but Elron gave it new emotional weight. As he put it “This material carries time and memory.” His pieces turned a classic fabric into something poetic, playful, and utterly modern.

And then there was Belgium – the powerhouse of this edition. Romain Bichot was without doubt one of the stars of the festival. His daring corset- mattress dresses won him nog one but two major prizes: the Le 19M Métiers d’Art Prize and the L’Aterlier des Matières Prize. We’re especially proud of this one, because we had the privilege to collaborate with Romain on his winning collection. Together we developed the earrings, keychains and buckles that completed his bold silhouettes. Seeing those details shine on the Hyères runway – and then watching him walk away with double recognition – was a moment we’ll never forget.

Alongside him, La Cage also made it to the finals of this 39th edition, showcasing their singular vision on the Villa Noailles stage. For their collection, we were honored to create the caps that crowned their looks – another detail moment we’re especially proud of.

And Hyères wouldn’t be Hyères without its tradition: every year, the previous edition’s winner returns to present a brand-new collection. In 2024, that spotlight belonged to Igor Dieryck, who came back after his big win in 2023. Just like last year, we had the joy of collaborating with Igor this time on his new collection that once again confirmed his place as one of Belgium’s brightest voices.

Yes, the awards matter. Yes, the collections inspire. But Hyères is also about the atmosphere. Dinners under the stars at Lido Beach, exhibitions at Villa Romaine, and even a Courrèges designed nightclub inside an abandoned pool – this is where art and fun collide. And the setting? Villa Noailles, celebrating its 100th year, still feels as fresh, daring, and avantyard as the designers it hosts.

Continuing the Legacy

On the verge of its 40th anniversary, the festival continues to be a mirror of its time. Freedom, diversity, and sustainability are woven into the DNA of the new generation of creatives. Seeing voices like Romain Bichot, La Cage, and Igor Dieryck shine reminds us what Hyères is truly about: a living circle of imagination where designers, artisans, and partners come together to shape what fashion can become – and being part of that shared journey is a source of true pride and inspiration.
